Voip Engineer

 

Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced VOIP Engineer to design, implement, and maintain our VoIP infrastructure. The ideal candidate will possess deep technical expertise in VoIP systems, including configuring, troubleshooting, and optimizing VoIP networks and services. This role is critical to ensuring reliable and efficient voice communication solutions for both internal teams and external clients.

 

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • VoIP Infrastructure Design & Implementation:
  • Design, install, and configure VoIP systems for new deployments, including PBX, SIP Trunks, and VoIP gateways.
  • Develop scalable architectures that support the growth and expansion of VoIP services.
  • Maintenance & Troubleshooting:
  • Monitor and maintain VoIP networks to ensure optimal performance, stability, and security.
  • Troubleshoot VoIP network and system issues, resolving problems related to quality of service (QoS), latency, jitter, and packet loss.
  • System Upgrades & Optimization:
  • Manage and execute VoIP system upgrades, including firmware updates, patches, and configuration changes.
  • Optimize VoIP configurations for performance improvements and capacity management.
  • VoIP Security & Compliance:
  • Ensure VoIP systems comply with security standards and best practices, implementing necessary encryption and firewall policies.
  • Regularly perform security audits and proactively mitigate vulnerabilities in the VoIP environment.
  • Collaboration & Support:
  • Work closely with network engineers, system administrators, and IT support teams to integrate VoIP solutions with existing infrastructure.
  • Provide training and support to internal teams on VoIP usage and features.
  • Documentation & Reporting:
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of all VoIP system configurations, network diagrams, and troubleshooting procedures.
  • Create detailed reports on system performance, incidents, and resolutions.

 

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Technical Expertise in VoIP:
  • Extensive experience with VoIP protocols (SIP, RTP, RTCP) and systems such as Asterisk, VICI.
  • In-depth knowledge of SIP Trunking, VoIP codecs (G.711, G.729), and Session Border Controllers (SBCs).
  • Network Engineering Skills:
  • Strong understanding of networking principles, including TCP/IP, VLANs, VPNs, QoS, and firewalls.
  • Experience with network troubleshooting tools such as Wireshark, tcpdump, and other packet analysis software.
  • Security & Compliance:
  • Expertise in securing VoIP systems, including encryption standards and firewalls to protect against DoS attacks, toll fraud, and eavesdropping.
  • Familiarity with compliance standards such as HIPAA or PCI-DSS as they apply to VoIP systems.
  • Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills:
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose complex issues in real-time and implement effective solutions.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Team Collaboration:
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and support end-users.

 

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (preferred).
  • 3+ years of experience in VoIP engineering, network administration, or a similar role.
  • Certifications such as CCNA Collaboration, CCNP Voice, or SIP School Certified Associate (SSCA) are a plus.
  • Proven track record of designing and maintaining large-scale VoIP systems.
