Trust Accountant

 

Description:

We seek a high-performing Real Estate Trust Accountant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate must have deep experience in trust accounting for real estate or vacation rental companies and financial reporting. This role will be responsible for trust accounting, vendor management, analyzing financial data, preparing reports, and providing valuable insights to support decision-making within the organization.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

· COMMUNICATION: Present the status of our books and finances in an easy-to-understand and proactive way. Must possess VERY STRONG verbal and written communication skills.

 

· ACCOUNTING AND FINANCE: Perform routine book-keeping and financial reporting for monthly, quarterly, and annual reports such as Balance Sheet, Income Statement, Cash Flows, Budget to Actuals, etc. Track each property by class. Issue 1099s. Research transactions for its purpose. Setup book-keeping automations for efficiency.

 

· OPTIONAL: Evaluate investments: Perform due diligence, research, and analysis of target investments. Calculate expenses, ROI, IRR, etc.

 

·  OTHER REGULAR REPORTS:

o  Income Statement, Balance Sheet, Cash Flows , Capital Roll forward (accrual and cash basis)

o  Property Owner payout statements (Trust Accounting)

o  Variance Analysis (YoY, MoM, etc).

o  Budget-to-Actuals with explanations

o  Management reports such as KPIs, incentive calculations, etc. with explanations

o  Tax reporting

o  Financial modeling for target investments, or other special projects.

o  Reporting:

·       Perform financial analysis and forecasting to guide strategic decision-making.

·       Analyze financial data and trends to identify opportunities for cost reduction and revenue growth.

·       Prepare and maintain financial models and reports.

·       Assist in the budgeting and financial planning process.

·       Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and report on variances.

·       Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide financial insights and recommendations.

·       Participate in financial audits and ensure compliance with financial regulations.

·       Provide ad-hoc financial analysis and support as needed.

 

Qualifications:

· Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field. Master's degree or CFA/CPA certification is a plus.

· Proven experience as a Trust Accountant or similar role.

· Strong analytical and quantitative skills.

· Proficiency in financial modeling and analysis tools (e.g., Excel, financial software).

· Excellent communication and presentation skills.

·  Attention to detail and accuracy.

·  Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

· Strong problem-solving skills.
