We are seeking a Senior Power Sector Legal Expert to join our dynamic, rapidly growing organisation. Initial assignment is for 12 months, however the engagement may be extended based on the candidate’s contribution.
This position is related to a project Planetive is managing within its partnership with RELP, an international organisation supporting the Private Power & Infrastructure Board, Government of Pakistan.

How You Will Contribute
- Conduct in-depth analysis of the legal frameworks and regulations of the electricity sector in Pakistan in the context of RELP’s technical assistance work provided to the Government.
- Investigate and analyse relevant legal frameworks, regulations and contracts shaping Pakistani energy market, review and understand the main issues, potential gaps and barriers affecting renewable energy adoption and the energy transition in the Country and regionally.
- Investigate the development of private renewable energy projects in the country including the relevant permitting processes at national, provincial and local levels.
- Propose improvements to the regulatory frameworks for the electricity sector at the national level.
- Draft regulations, Request for Proposals (RfPs), Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) and related contracts in the context of the national energy procurement process supported by RELP.
- Identify and select international best practices in the development of renewable energy that could be adopted as reference in Pakistan.
- Grounded into the national legal framework and aware of the best ways to promote legal and regulatory changes, promote innovation and generate out-of-the-box proposals conductive to a faster, more simplified and more transparent deployment of renewable energy in the Country.
What You Will Bring
- University level degree in Law (required).
- Five to eight years of general professional practice (required).
- Three to five years in power sector practice (required).
- Knowledge of global trends in renewable energy tenders and the implementation of best practices in the design of tenders at regional and international level.
- English level: advanced (required).
