We are seeking a Power Market and Financials Sr Associate to join our dynamic, rapidly growing organisation. Initial assignment is for 12 months, however the engagement may be extended based on the candidate’s contribution.
This position is related to a project Planetive is managing within its partnership with RELP (https://www.relp.ngo/), an international organisation supporting the Private Power & Infrastructure Board, Government of Pakistan.
The Power Market and Financials Sr Associate will work closely with Planetive’s team in Islamabad, as well as with RELP’s global team and other local and global stakeholders. How You Will Contribute
- Compile, standardise and analyse power sector market-level data (with a special focus on renewable power generation, transmission and storage) and relevant macroeconomic and financial data. Manage energy sector specific information such as conventional and renewable energy generation, grid infrastructure availability and expansion plans, transmission system operations, energy curtailment, generation costs, prices, tariffs, etc.
- Compile, standardise and analyse project-level data with a special focus on renewable power generation, transmission and storage projects. These data include project technical studies, renewable energy resource studies, capital and operating expenses, financing terms and conditions, etc.
- Build and/or maintain project-level financial models (typically in MS Excel) to calculate break-even prices, levelised costs, investors’ returns and other typical indicators including sensitivities analysis.
- Analyse and compare available Energy Systems Planning Models with a focus on the inputs required, outputs produced and their respective formats/structure.
- Scout for and recommend new data sources for country/technology including energy demand/supply, LCOE, prices, capex, open auctions, and others as deemed relevant.
- Keep the relevant datasets up-to-date with the latest data releases.
- Interact with and manage joint forecasting, modelling and analysis with different internal and external stakeholders.
What You Will Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance, Engineering or Math/Statistics (required)
- Three to five years of experience within the energy/power sector (required)
- English level: advanced (required).
- IT Tools: Advanced MS Excel and MS Office tools (required). Phyton, Matlab, Plexos, OSeMOSYS (desirable).
What extra skills you will bring
- Master’s degree in energy modelling, financial analysis or related area (desirable).
- Previous experience in energy modelling for public entities or utilities active in the Pakistani market.
