Description:
Chemonics seeks a Senior investment and trade promotion expert for a six-month consultancy with the ongoing USAID Pakistan Investment Promotion Activity (IPA) in Pakistan. The goal of the project is to work closely with the Government of Pakistan (GoP) and the Provincial Governments to streamline their business practices, improve operational transparency and governance, promote regulatory reforms and competition with an aim to reducing the administrative burden on businesses, strengthening the investment climate for foreign investors in Pakistan and promoting opportunities for enhanced trade and investment between U.S. and Pakistani businesses. The Senior investment and trade promotion expert will facilitate matchmaking of Pakistani businesses with foreign and international investors; leverage Pakistani private sector investment to mobilize FDI in Pakistan; identify, target, and engage international investors and secure and set up one on one investor-investee matchmaking; plan and organize international investment roadshows; improve business enabling environment; and increase U.S-Pakistan bilateral trade and attract FDI through grants. The expert will work on-site with the related IPA personnel, based in Islamabad. Field visits to various locations for consultations may take place. Responsibilities Include
Meet with IPA Chief of Party and team leads to understand the specific requirements of the scope of work and design and submit work plan to achieve the activities highlighted in the scope of work.
Review the overall investor-investee matchmaking process undertaken by the team and provide actionable guidance on how to improve the overall process of investment and investor-investee matchmaking.
Review the origination pipeline and give ideas on increasing the outreach and enhancing origination efforts for the roadshows in Dubai, San Francisco, and Riyadh. Carry out activities around organizing FDI promotion events and roadshows in Dubai, San Francisco, and Riyadh
Assist IPA team in refining and polishing the investment data, pitch books, pitch decks and presentations about the pipeline companies to be presented to the investors.
Assist in capacity building of the companies which have been selected in the pipeline to make them investor ready- elevator pitch sessions, workshops etc.
Provide investor intelligence insight and assist IPA team in investor mapping by providing precise information about the size and type of investors, sectoral preferences of different investors, size and type of investments these investors are interested in. Investors who have invested in South Asian countries- specially Bangladesh or Sri Lanka in addition to India should be specially focused on.
Carry out necessary preparations and activities in connecting with different categories of investors by utilizing personal and professional connections and networks in addition to use of subscription-based investor database in coordination with the IPA team.
Carry out engagements that will include targeting, and engaging of investors i.e., finding them, reaching out to them, inviting them to the investment roadshows, events, setting meetings for matchmaking that would include pre-event introductions and one-on-one meetings during the events.
Assist in preparing communications materials needed to initiate the outreach to the investors.
Assist in development and finalization of communications/marketing material for international investment roadshows.
Assist in planning and executing roundtable/panel discussions during the roadshows.
Provide inputs to IPA M&E team for necessary tools, supporting documents, and in developing means of verification related to outcome indicators of the Project on trade and investment.
Provide inputs on investment climate related policy and regulatory work being done by IPA to integrate international learnings, experiences, and successful models.
Assist the BOI and Provincial investment entities in developing training manuals and schedules based on international best practices for their staff.
Advise the BOI and the Provincial investment entities on setting up the best after-care arrangements and practices
Assist IPA Fund grantees (specially founders of grant recipient enterprises) to help them navigate investment outreach, maximize their capital raising efforts, and facilitate introductions to relevant and potential investors.
Play leading role in planning and executing the year-3 work plan in close coordination with the IPA team.
Report to Chief of Party and/or his designee.
Qualifications
Degree in Economics/Business Administration/ International Marketing/Investments /Marketing Communications or any other field related to international investment and trade promotion
Demonstratable experience in investment promotion, attraction and facilitation
Experience working on similar international assignments will be preferred.
Experience working with international development organizations will be preferred.
Past experience working with Chemonics International will be preferred.
Excellent network and professional relations with international investors especially in UAE, Saudi Arabia, and USA.
Excellent written/ oral presentation skills.
Skillful in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power point.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, performance oriented, team-based environment with minimal supervision.
