Senior Accountant

Description:

The ideal candidate will have substantial exposure to monthly closing processes, forecasting and budgeting, and customer billing. They will be organized and approach each issue with an analytical mindset.

We are seeking a Senior Accountant with experience in UK accountancy to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing accounting operations and ensuring high-quality deliverables.

Key Responsibilities:

• Review system notes and job budgets before starting tasks.
• Evaluate the work of Semi-Senior Accountants, documenting findings and review points.
• Address and resolve queries raised by Semi-Senior Accountants, escalating to the Portfolio Manager when necessary.
• Ensure all required information for jobs is complete and accurate, identifying any missing details.
• Prepare and finalize annual accounts.
• Create accounts working files in line with approved practice formats.
• Reconcile all control accounts, schedules, debtors, and creditors.
• Verify HMRC records to ensure PAYE, VAT, CT, and CIS balances match accurately.
• Complete jobs within the allocated budget.
• Prepare weekly reporting sheets for the Portfolio Manager, including progress updates and upcoming tasks.
• Perform any additional tasks assigned by the Portfolio Manager.

Requirements:

• Prior experience in UK accountancy is mandatory.
• Proficiency in preparing and finalizing annual accounts.
• Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to manage and mentor junior team members.

Qualifications

• 3+ years' of professional accounting experience
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics or equivalent experience
• CPA preferred
