Network Operations Center Engineer

Description:

We are seeking a motivated and skilled Network Operations Center (NOC) Technician to join our team. The NOC Technician will be responsible for monitoring, maintaining, and troubleshooting our network and systems infrastructure to ensure optimal performance and uptime. The ideal candidate will possess a solid foundation in Python, Linux, and MySQL, and possess strong verbal and written communication skills. Knowledge of VOIP and Asterisk is considered a plus, along with experience using Zendesk or any other ticketing portal for incident management.

Requirements:

1. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent work experience.

2. Basic proficiency in Python programming language for automation and scripting tasks.

3. Strong understanding of Linux operating systems and command-line utilities.

4. Familiarity with MySQL database management and querying.

5. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical information to non-technical stakeholders.

6. Knowledge of VOIP and Asterisk is preferred but not required.

7. Experience using Zendesk or similar ticketing systems for incident management and resolution.

8. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

9. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

10. Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends, as part of an on-call rotation schedule.

Responsibilities:

1. Monitor network and system performance, identifying and resolving issues promptly to minimize downtime.

2. Respond to alerts and alarms generated by network monitoring tools and take appropriate actions to address incidents.

3. Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as software updates, system patches, and backups.

4. Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to network connectivity, hardware, software, and applications.

5. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement solutions and improvements to the network infrastructure.

6. Document all network activities, configurations, and changes accurately.
