Description:
We are looking for a highly skilled MySQL Database Administrator to join our Data Centre Operations team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining the performance, availability, and security of MySQL instances. This role includes orchestrating upgrades, backups, and provisioning of database instances, as well as collaborating with other teams to prepare necessary documentation and specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provision MySQL instances in both clustered and non-clustered configurations.
- Ensure optimal performance, security, and availability of databases.
- Prepare comprehensive documentation and specifications.
- Manage common database procedures, such as upgrades, backups, recovery, and migrations.
- Diagnose and resolve database-related issues effectively.
- Profile server resource usage and optimize as necessary.
- Collaborate with team members and stakeholders.
- Provide 24x7 support for all production environments.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or engineering.
- Candidates must possess a mandatory 3-4 years of hands-on experience in MySQL database management. Only experienced professionals will be considered for this role.
- Strong proficiency with recent versions of MySQL.
- Deep understanding of MySQL’s underlying storage engines (InnoDB and MyISAM).
- Experience with replication configuration in MySQL.
- Proficiency in writing and optimizing SQL statements.
- Knowledge of MySQL features, such as the event scheduler.
- Ability to plan resource requirements based on high-level specifications.
- Understanding of MySQL limitations and workarounds compared to other popular relational databases.
