Description:
The MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) Engineer leads and oversees all MEP-related activities in construction projects, ensuring efficient design, integration, and execution of systems. This role involves managing teams, coordinating with other departments, and ensuring compliance with industry standards, timelines, and budgets.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership and Management:
- Oversee the MEP department, managing engineers, technicians, and subcontractors.
- Develop and implement strategies for efficient MEP project execution.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to the team.
- Resolve technical challenges and provide innovative solutions.
Project Planning and Coordination:
- Collaborate with architects, structural engineers, and other stakeholders to integrate MEP systems into overall project designs.
- Review and approve MEP designs, ensuring alignment with project objectives and regulations.
- Create detailed project timelines and ensure adherence to milestones.
- Coordinate with procurement teams for materials and equipment.
Design and Implementation:
- Ensure the proper design, installation, and testing of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection systems.
- Validate system calculations, layouts, and specifications.
- Monitor the integration of green building practices, energy efficiency, and sustainability measures.
Quality Assurance and Compliance:
- Ensure all MEP systems comply with local and international codes, standards, and safety regulations.
- Conduct regular quality checks and audits during project execution.
- Address discrepancies or issues promptly.
Cost and Budget Management:
- Develop and manage MEP budgets for projects.
- Optimize resources to maintain cost-effectiveness without compromising quality.
- Approve and review project invoices and variations related to MEP works.
Communication and Reporting:
- Prepare detailed reports on MEP progress, risks, and performance metrics.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for MEP-related matters with clients and consultants.
- Conduct regular meetings with project teams and stakeholders.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Educational Background:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 5–8 years of experience in MEP engineering, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within the construction industry.
- Technical Proficiency:
- Proficiency in MEP design software (AutoCAD MEP, Revit, etc.).
- Strong understanding of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection systems.
- Knowledge of energy efficiency and sustainable design principles.
- Leadership Skills:
- Proven ability to lead large teams effectively.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
- Communication:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with diverse stakeholders.
- Other Skills:

- Familiarity with construction management software (e.g., Primavera, MS Project).
