Lead Legal

 

Description:

The Job holder is responsible for the effective management of the Legal function, provision of legal advisory services, and ensuring effective management of legal, regulatory, compliance, and contractual risks.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Liaise with the relevant department to ensure that where legal risks have been identified, appropriate courses of action have been taken.
  • Provide legal protection and risk management advice to management, particularly in relation to contract management.
  • Provide and interpret legal information, conduct training, and disseminate appropriate legal requirements for staff.
  • Review and advise management on the legal implications of internal policies and procedures.
  • Review of progress of outstanding litigation and liaise with and manage external lawyers.
  • Formulate a compliance checklist to be used for the purpose of ensuring that all information required is provided accordingly.
  • Continuously monitor compliance with statutory obligations and advise management accordingly.
  • Prepare and maintain standard agreements and documentation for use throughout the organization.
  • Review and provide legal advice on tender documentation.
  • Review all non-standard contracts or any other documentation under which the Company assumes risks and obligations and assess legal implications that need to be brought to the executive management’s attention.
  • Advice on changes to TAWAL standard agreements.

 

Managerial Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the development of TAWAL's strategy and operational objectives and oversee the cascading of the overall strategy to the relevant functional area
  • Make effective decisions even under difficult circumstances and take responsibility.
  • Keep abreast of best practices and drive implementation in TAWAL

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law
  • Master’s degree or equivalent is preferred.
