Intensive Care Nurse

 

Description:

The Registered Nurse (Critical Care) at a leading Hospital in Karachi which provides specialized care to critically ill patients in high-intensity environments like the ICU. This role requires continuous monitoring, timely interventions, and coordination with a multidisciplinary team to ensure patient stability and recovery. The RN will manage complex medical situations and deliver advanced care while adhering to the highest standards. The RN will work primarily in an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) or other critical care settings.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

1.⁠ ⁠Patient Care:

- Assess and monitor critically ill patients, tracking vital signs, lab results, and clinical indicators.

- Administer medications, treatments, and procedures as prescribed, documenting patient responses.

- Provide advanced life support and respond to emergencies promptly.

- Develop and implement personalized care plans based on individual patient needs.

 

2.⁠ ⁠Monitoring and Documentation:

- Utilize advanced monitoring equipment like cardiac monitors, ventilators, and infusion pumps to assess patient status.

- Maintain detailed records of patient care, including assessments, interventions, and outcomes.

- Communicate changes in patient condition to physicians, family members, and the healthcare team.

 

3.⁠ ⁠Collaboration and Communication:

- Work closely with physicians, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate care.

- Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and contribute to care planning.

- Educate and support patients and their families about treatments, procedures, and recovery expectations.

 

4.⁠ ⁠Emergency Response:

- Respond rapidly to critical situations such as cardiac arrests and respiratory crises.

- Perform advanced life support techniques and assist in resuscitation efforts when necessary.

- Stabilize patients and prepare them for transfer when needed.

 

5.⁠ ⁠Quality and Safety:

- Follow infection control procedures and ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.

- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance care standards.

- Monitor potential complications and manage adverse effects from treatments.

 

6.⁠ ⁠Education and Professional Development:

- Stay updated with advancements in critical care nursing and healthcare technologies.

- Participate in ongoing training to maintain competency and certifications.

- Mentor less experienced nursing staff, fostering a positive work environment.

 

Qualifications:

•⁠ ⁠Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred; Diploma in General Nursing (DGN) with relevant experience will be considered.

•⁠ ⁠Registered Nurse (RN) license in PNC is mandatory.

•⁠ ⁠Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) required.

•⁠ ⁠Certification in Critical Care Nursing (CCRN) preferred.

•⁠ ⁠1-2 years of experience in critical or intensive care settings.

•⁠ ⁠Strong knowledge of critical care procedures, technologies, and emergency protocols.

•⁠ ⁠Excellent critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills.
