Description:
The Inland Operations Specialist is responsible for overseeing and optimizing inland transportation and logistics operations. This role involves coordinating the movement of goods from ports to inland destinations, ensuring timely deliveries, cost efficiency, and adherence to safety and regulatory standards. The specialist works closely with vendors, suppliers, and internal teams to streamline processes, resolve issues, and maintain high levels of customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Transportation Coordination: Manage the movement of cargo between ports and inland locations, ensuring efficient transportation routes and timely deliveries.
- Vendor & Carrier Management: Establish and maintain relationships with carriers, third-party logistics providers, and other relevant vendors. Negotiate rates and monitor performance to ensure cost-effective and reliable service.
- Documentation & Compliance: Ensure all necessary shipping and transportation documentation is completed accurately and in accordance with local and international regulations. Handle customs requirements and other compliance-related activities.
- Route Planning & Optimization: Analyze transportation routes to identify opportunities for cost reduction, improved efficiency, and enhanced service delivery. Implement best practices in routing and scheduling.
- Problem Solving: Address and resolve operational challenges, including delays, damages, or discrepancies in shipments. Provide solutions in a timely manner to minimize impact on clients.
- Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with internal teams (e.g., sales, customer service, and warehouse) to ensure seamless operations. Communicate effectively with stakeholders regarding shipment statuses, delays, and any issues.
- Data Management & Reporting: Track and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to inland operations. Generate reports on operational performance, cost analysis, and service levels for management review.
- Customer Support: Provide excellent customer service by addressing inquiries, resolving concerns, and ensuring client satisfaction with inland logistics operations.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and new regulatory changes. Recommend process improvements to enhance operational efficiency.
