Description:

The Head of Department (HOD) - Supply Chain in Oil Movement is responsible for overseeing the efficient movement of oil tankers from the refinery to storage terminals and from storage terminals to clients. This role requires a deep understanding of the oil business, including by-products, as well as expertise in market dynamics related to transportation. The ideal candidate will have strong connections with transporters, refineries, and Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs), enabling effective sourcing strategies and ensuring seamless logistics operations.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement strategic plans for optimizing the movement of oil tankers, considering factors such as refinery production schedules, client demand, and transportation capacity.
  • Identify and establish relationships with transporters, ensuring reliable and cost-effective transportation services.
  • Negotiate contracts and terms with transporters to secure favorable rates and terms.
  • Continuously evaluate vendor performance and capabilities to ensure compliance with service level agreements and quality standards.
  • Oversee the scheduling and coordination of tanker movements, including loading at the refinery, transit to storage terminals, and delivery to clients.
  • Monitor inventory levels at storage terminals and coordinate replenishment activities to meet client demands while minimizing stockouts and excess inventory.
  • Implement best practices for safety, security, and environmental compliance in tanker operations.
  • Stay abreast of market trends, regulatory changes, and competitive dynamics impacting the oil transportation sector.
  • Conduct market analysis and forecasting to anticipate changes in demand patterns and adjust logistics strategies accordingly.
  • Collaborate with marketing and sales teams to support business development efforts and identify opportunities for expansion or optimization.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the department, encouraging creative solutions to logistical challenges and operational inefficiencies.

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • Proven experience (5-8 years) in a senior supply chain role within the oil and gas industry, with a focus on tanker logistics and transportation.
  • In-depth knowledge of oil products, including refining processes, by-products, and market dynamics.
  • Strong understanding of transportation logistics, including route optimization, fleet management, and regulatory compliance.
