Financial Controller

As part of your job, you will:

• Oversee all accounting operations, including Billing, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, General Ledger, and Revenue Recognition.

• Coordinate and support the FP&A function in preparation of budgets, financial forecasts, and report variances.

• Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements.

• Coordinate the preparation of regulatory reporting to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

• Manage the month-end and year-end financial close processes.

• Ensure quality control over financial transactions and reporting.

• Manage and comply with local and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.

• Develop, document and implement business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.

• Collaborate with external auditors to ensure proper monitoring of company finances.

• Evaluate and provide guidance on business operations, including revenue and expenditure trends and future revenues.

• Lead and support the accounting team to ensure smooth day-to-day accounting operations.

• Manage the company's income tax and sales tax related matters.

Must Have for the Role:

• CA Qualified, Part-Qualified, or ACCA Qualified.

• Prior experience at one of the Big Four audit firms is a plus.

• Proven 3-5 years of working experience as a Finance Controller/ Chief Accountant, preferably within retail or hospitality industry.

• Essential understanding of corporate and provincial tax.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Dynamics is highly advantageous. Strong ERP experience is a must.

• Entrepreneurial mindset and not afraid to take risks and making mistakes. And always learning from them to improve and succeed.

• Very strong understanding of accounting principles, IFRS, financial regulations, and reporting standards.

• Good written and verbal communication skills to articulate findings and recommendations clearly.

• Detail-oriented and organized, adept at managing multiple tasks and meeting deadlines.

• Upholds strong ethical standards and displays discretion in handling confidential information.
