Times of Karachi, a leading digital media news organization in Karachi, is seeking a Full-time English News Writer to join its team. The successful candidate will be responsible for writing and reporting English news stories for two news websites. He/she will also be responsible for producing scripts for video stories. The candidate should have a strong interest in news, particularly local news of Karachi.
Responsibilities:
• Write and report on English news stories for news website.
• Produce accurate, balanced, and engaging news content.
• Research and report on breaking news stories in a timely manner.
• Write scripts for video stories.
• Collaborate with the video production team to ensure that video scripts align with the organization's goals.
• Write captions for social media platforms.
• Attend press conferences, events and conduct interviews when required.
Requirements:
• 2 years of experience in English news writing/reporting.
• A degree in journalism/mass communication, English, International Relations or a relevant field.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Strong research and analytical skills.
• Basic understanding of writing captions for social media platforms.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines.
• Passion for news and current events, with a particular interest in local news of Karachi.
