Economic Analyst

Description:

We seek a highly skilled and motivated Economic Analyst to join the Research and Policy Analysis team at the All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (APTMA). The ideal candidate will be responsible for constructing, maintaining and updating datasets, preparing regular economic updates, conducting analyses to generate insights, and providing actionable recommendations to support strategic decision-making by industry leaders and policymakers.

This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams on various topics, including energy, macroeconomy, trade and investment, sustainability and compliance, etc.

Key Responsibilities:

Data Collection and Management:

· Collect, clean, and organize data from various internal and external sources, ensuring data integrity and accuracy.

· Develop and maintain databases, data systems and dashboards necessary for department functions.

Research and Analysis:

· Conduct market research to understand industry trends, market dynamics, and competitive landscape.

· Perform sophisticated data analysis using descriptive and econometric methods and tools to identify trends, patterns, and correlations.

· Utilize data visualization techniques to present findings in an understandable and actionable manner.

Reporting:

· Create and maintain reports and dashboards to monitor key economic indicators relevant to the textile industry and overall economy.

· Prepare regular updates and insights for stakeholders to support policy and business strategies.

Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s degree in economics, data science, statistics or a related quantitative field from a reputable local or international university. A master’s degree is a plus.

· Excellent English writing skills, with the ability to present data and research findings clearly and concisely.

· Proficiency in Excel, familiarity with statistical programming using R, STATA, Python, and a strong willingness to learn

· Up to 2 years of experience in data analysis or a related role is desirable

· Experience in data cleaning and visualization is desirable

· Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
