Key Responsibilities:
- Create and maintain optimal database architecture by managing data requirements for new and existing projects.
- Assemble large, complex data sets meeting functional/non-functional business requirements, supporting ongoing project development and maintenance.
- Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements, including automating manual processes and optimizing data delivery.
- Build the infrastructure necessary for optimal data extraction, transformation, and loading from diverse data sources using SQL and AWS/Cloud "big data" technologies.
- Develop analytics tools utilizing the data pipeline to derive actionable insights into customer acquisition, operational efficiency, and key business performance metrics.
- Explore and install additional open-source and commercial software products to develop, deploy, and support the platform.
- Work with stakeholders, including the Executive, Product, Data, and Design teams, to address data-related technical issues and support their data infrastructure needs.
- Ensure data separation and security across national boundaries through multiple data centers and AWS regions, implementing HIPAA compliance at the database design and infrastructure level.
- Collaborate with data and analytics experts to enhance functionality in data systems, developing set processes for data mining, data modeling, and data production.
- Collaborate with team members, such as data architects, the IT team, and data scientists, to achieve project goals.
- Design and implement database disaster recovery requirements to ensure business continuity.
- Provide advanced systems administration and support capability, including analyzing system performance and suggesting/implementing tuning as needed.
Qualifications:
- 2-4 years of experience in a Data Engineer or DBA role, with a Graduate degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Informatics, Information Systems, or another quantitative field.
- Sound working experience designing databases for new and existing enterprise-level applications, closely collaborating with business, analysis, and development teams
- Working knowledge of SQL, experience with relational databases, and familiarity with a variety of databases.
- Experience building and optimizing & "big data" data pipelines, architectures, and data sets.
- Working knowledge of message queuing, stream processing, and highly scalable & "big data" data stores.
- Familiarity with SaaS, cloud platforms, microservice architecture, containerization, and application/database design for multi-tenant applications.
- Experience with big data tools, relational SQL, and NoSQL databases (e.g., MySQL, Postgres, Cassandra, MongoDB).
- Experience with AWS cloud services: EC2, EMR, RDS, Redshift.
- Experience with object-oriented/scripting languages (e.g., Python, Java, C++, Scala) is a plus.
