Description:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Civil Draftsman to join our construction team. The Draftsman will be responsible for creating accurate, detailed technical drawings and plans for civil construction projects. Working closely with engineers, architects, and project managers, the Draftsman will produce blueprints and layouts that guide construction teams through the building process. Ideal candidates will have strong technical drawing skills, familiarity with CAD software, and an understanding of construction practices and standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Drafting & Design:
- Prepare detailed drawings and blueprints for civil construction projects, including site plans, foundation plans, structural details, and elevations.
- Utilize CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D) to create 2D and 3D drawings in accordance with project specifications and industry standards.
Technical Collaboration:
- Work closely with engineers and architects to incorporate design specifications and provide feedback on constructability.
- Adjust designs based on team input, project requirements, and regulatory standards.
Project Documentation:
- Maintain organized files and versions of all project drawings, ensuring they are easily accessible and up-to-date.
- Assist in developing and maintaining project documentation, including layout details, technical reports, and progress updates.
Site Visits & Inspections:
- Conduct occasional site visits to understand the project requirements and verify design feasibility and accuracy.
- Review completed projects to ensure compliance with original plans and identify areas for improvement in future designs.
Compliance & Standards:
- Ensure all designs comply with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as industry standards.
- Stay updated on industry trends, standards, and technologies in civil drafting.
Quality Control:
- Verify the accuracy and completeness of all drawings, making sure all details are meticulously outlined and documented.
- Revise designs as needed to address changes in project scope, unforeseen obstacles, or feedback from team members.
Qualifications:
- Education: Diploma or Associate Degree in Civil Engineering, Drafting, or a related field.
- Experience: More than 8 years of experience in civil drafting or design in the construction industry.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D), Microsoft Office Suite, and familiarity with BIM (Building Information Modeling) is a plus.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of construction methods, engineering principles, and local building codes and regulations.
- Communication: Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with engineers, architects, and construction managers.
- Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail in design and documentation.
