Description:
The Aga Khan University Hospital in addition to its four Off Campus Hospitals creates access through its Outreach Services which include Clinical Laboratories, Outpatient Medical Centers, Pharmacy services, Home Health, and other services. Outreach Services are designed to provide primary to secondary healthcare services to patients near their homes and are present in several cities across Pakistan.
Responsibilities:
The Chief Operating Officer – Outreach Services will be responsible for providing strategic direction for Clinical Labs, Phlebotomy Centers, Integrated Medical Services (IMS), Clifton Medical Services (CMS) and Home Health Program (HHP).
- Oversee the effective and efficient operation as planned such that volumes continue to grow; staffing is appropriate and supplies and equipment are maintained;
- Ensure that labs, IMS’, CMS and HHP achieve and exceed key operational KPIs and maintain high quality standards and be accountable for achieving the budget in terms of net surplus as determined by Hospital leadership;
- Work with all key stakeholders at AKUH Hospitals including Chief Medical Officer, Clinical Chairs and Clinical Faculty to develop alternative models of practice in the community and referral links with the non-full-time faculty and community physicians;
- Enhance Outreach services’ branding, partnerships and strengthen institutional presence by acting as the face of front line in the marketplace and healthcare community;
- Achieve key strategic goals by developing key strategic objectives which are to be met in the short term, medium term and long term and identify challenges;
- Monitor the service levels to achieve customer satisfaction;
- Enhance accessibility and contribution of Outreach services to the Hospital by providing vision and direction to expand beyond existing markets;
- Prepare budget and develop financial feasibility to provide vision and direction in formulating and implementing short- & long-term goals for outreach health network;
- Improve the quality of services by ensuring compliance with ISO / JCIA standards;
- Ensure effective management of resources by providing leadership and problem-solving support to peers, direct reports and to internal customers;
- Supervise quality assurance and complaint/incident reports data. Follow up on complaints/incident reports and take corrective and preventive measures for improvement.
Requirements:
The successful candidate should have:
- An advanced degree in health care administration such as an Master of Healthcare Administration (MHA) or Master’s degree in Science or Masters in Business Administration or equivalent from a recognized university;
- A minimum of 15 years’ experience at senior management level in major teaching health care institutions or tertiary health care hospital;
- Familiarity and experience in health care quality management;
- In depth knowledge in financial management of hospital / health systems;
- Charismatic and empathetic qualities that can pull together diverse groups for the better services;
- High tolerance for arduous modelling of consensus from the diverse groups;
- Strategic and tactical hands-on experience with strong analytical acumen;
- Ability to interact with a diverse group of people;
- Ability to realize business opportunities in conformity to business strategy;
- Provide attention to detail and follow-up with the ability to manage;
- Ability to coordinate with teams in a fast-paced professional environment;
- An exceptionally bright and articulate communicator with strong negotiation and interpersonal skills.
