We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Chief Librarian to lead and manage the operations of our library. The ideal candidate will be responsible for strategic planning, library administration, and fostering a culture of learning and research within the institution. This role involves ensuring the delivery of exceptional library services and resources, managing collections, and supporting the academic and professional needs of students, faculty, and staff.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the overall operations and management of the library, including staff supervision, budgeting, and resource allocation.
- Develop and implement library policies and strategic plans to align with the institution's academic goals.
- Ensure the provision of quality library services, including information access, research assistance, and digital resource management.
- Manage and maintain the library’s collection, including acquisitions, cataloging, and preservation of materials.
- Promote library resources and services to the academic community through workshops, orientations, and marketing efforts.
- Collaborate with faculty to support curriculum needs and enhance the library’s role in student learning and research.
- Implement new technologies and innovative practices to improve library services and access to information.
- Lead initiatives to digitize collections and expand the library’s digital presence.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Library Science or Library and Information Studies (MLIS) from an accredited institution.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills with the ability to manage and motivate a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with students, faculty, and staff.
- In-depth knowledge of library systems, cataloging, and digital resource management.
- Experience with budgeting, policy development, and strategic planning.
- Proficiency in using digital library systems and emerging technologies.
