The Department of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering at the Syed Babar Ali School of Sciences and Engineering, Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS), invites applications for multiple Research Assistant positions. This opportunity is part of an HEC funded research project focusing on the development of heterogeneous catalysts for biomass valorization, led by Dr. Muhammad Zaheer, Dr. Qasim Imtiaz and Dr. Rofice Dickson.

Responsibilities: As a Research Assistant, you will play a crucial role in advancing scientific research. Key responsibilities include:

• Synthesizing and characterizing supported heterogeneous catalysts.
• Evaluating catalytic performance for industrially relevant reactions in batch and flow reactors.
• Contributing to scientific and technical reporting and effectively presenting research findings.
• Providing leadership through support and mentorship of fellow students.
• Collaborating with other researchers within PI’s and co-PI's research group.

Qualifications: Applicants must possess a bachelor’s degree in chemistry and a master’s degree (MS/MPhil) or PhD in chemistry, along with demonstrated experience in the following:

• Synthesis of materials using solvothermal and sol-gel methods.
• Characterization of materials using spectroscopy (UV-VIS, IR, NMR, XPS), electron microscopy (SEM, TEM), X-ray diffraction, thermal methods (TGA, DSC), and gas adsorption.
• Quantitative analysis through GC-FID and HPLC.
• Operation of high-pressure and temperature reactors (Parr reactors).
• Knowledge of computational methods for life cycle assessment and techno-economic analysis would be a plus.
