Assistant Professor

 

Description:

The Associate Professor of Computer Science is a senior faculty position responsible for contributing to the teaching, research, and service missions of the department and the institution. This individual will engage in high-quality research, publish scholarly works, mentor students, and participate in academic and administrative activities.

 

Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, or a related field.
  • Strong research record in the relevant field.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and students.
  • Previous experience with accreditation processes, such as accreditation by bodies like ABET (Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology), NBAC (National Board for Accreditation of Computer Science), NSAC (National Society for Accreditation of Computing), or similar accrediting agencies, is highly valued.

Responsibilities:

Teaching and Curriculum Development:

Develop and deliver undergraduate and graduate courses in computer science.

Mentor students in research projects, theses, and dissertations.

Participate in curriculum development and assessment activities to ensure program quality and relevance.

Research:

Conduct original research in the field of computer science, leading to publications in peer-reviewed journals and conferences.

Pursue external funding through grants and contracts to support research endeavors.

Collaborate with colleagues, students, and industry partners on interdisciplinary research projects.

Service:

Serve on departmental, college, and university committees.

Participate in academic advising and mentorship activities for students.

Engage in outreach efforts to promote computer science education and foster community partnerships.

Professional Development:

Stay current with advancements in the field of computer science through continued research, attending conferences, and professional development activities.

Contribute to the scholarly community through peer review activities, conference organization, and editorial roles.
